Junior lifeguard training

Juniors can join from school year 9 (13 years old minimum), and undertake the SLSGB Graduate Lifeguard program.

This is a comprehensive lifeguard, patrol training, and peer leadership programme that helps to develop future beach lifeguards. It actively encourages them to promote water safety within their local community and peer groups.

The programme focuses on beach lifeguard skills and techniques, transferrable skills such as leadership, problem solving and communications, and will suit any junior club member interested in becoming a patrolling lifeguard.

We ask that all junior members be able to swim at least 200m in under 5 minutes. This is a safety requirement as we spend a lot of time in the open sea.

We are a small club and ask that all members and their families play an active supporting role.  We currently have a waiting list for our next intake day.  We aim to hold 1 or 2 intakes per year, however this relies on volunteer capacity and membership numbers, and as such may change. Please click below to add a name to the waiting list, and we'll keep you updated on the next intake.

In the meantime if you have any questions please contact us and one of our members will get in touch.
